Glenn Frey曾是70年代美國最偉大的樂隊Eagles(老鷹樂隊)的核心成員及主唱之一。1979年樂隊解散之后，Glenn Frey開始單獨發(fā)展，1982年發(fā)表的首張個人專輯《No Fun Aloud》產(chǎn)生了多首排行榜前40位的單曲，其中就包括被張國榮翻唱為《夢里藍天》的這首被公認為不朽的經(jīng)典英文情歌的《The One You Love》。

1948年11月6日，格列·弗雷出生于底特律，在羅亞爾奧克附近長大，成長過程中伴隨著汽車城的聲音和硬派搖滾。格列·弗雷曾成功說服硬搖滾歌手鮑勃·希格(Bob Seger)給自己的樂隊the Mushrooms寫一首歌，并在鮑勃·希格的第一首熱歌“Ramblin' Gamblin' Man”中擔任和聲。[3]
后來格列·弗雷跟隨當時的女友Joan Silwin搬到了洛杉磯，并在洛杉磯結(jié)識John David Souther。不久后格列·弗雷就跟John David Souther共同租房住在東洛杉磯，跟他們住在一起的還有一位詞曲作者Jackson Browne，這三人迅速“打入”洛杉磯當?shù)氐膿u滾夜總會。不過格列·弗雷跟David Souther組成的二人演唱組“Longbranch Pennywhistle”并不成功，這個短命組合在1969年發(fā)行了一張專輯后迅速解散。[3]
